Procedure

  • Ensure the temperature of the test sample is below 30°C.
  • Add 3 drops of Acid Reagent into the test tube.
  • Fill the test tube up to the 15 ml level with the test sample.
  • Add 5 drops of the Indicator to the test sample in the tube.
  • Fill the Titrator with Titrator Reagent up to the 'Zero' mark.
  • Begin adding the Titrator Reagent drop by drop into the test sample in the tube, while gently swirling the tube. Continue this until a trace of blue color appears throughout the solution.
  • The result is obtained in parts per million (ppm) of sodium sulphite (Na2SO3) by multiplying the Titrator reading by 4.2.

This process should help determine the concentration of sodium sulphite in the water sample, providing essential information for various industrial, water treatment, or environmental monitoring purposes.
