Procedure

  • Fill the Test Tube (0778) with the water sample to be tested up to the 10 ml mark.
  • Add 5 drops of Hardness Buffer Reagent No. 5 (4483 - E) to the water sample and thoroughly mix it.
  • Add 1 spoonful of Hardness Indicating Reagent No. 6 (4484 - J) to the sample in the Test Tube. Cap the Test Tube and mix well.
  • Fill the Titrator with Hardness Titration Reagent No. 7 (4487 - G) up to the 'Zero' mark. Place the Titrator in the center hole of the Titration Tube Cap.
  • Gradually add the Hardness Test Reagent No. 7 (4487 - G) drop by drop into the Test Tube, gently shaking between drops. Continue adding until the red color changes to a clear blue.
  • The result is obtained in Parts Per Million (PPM) of Calcium Carbonate by multiplying the Titrator reading by 10.
